Family, Hobbies, and Interests
I live with my son, husband, and dog, in Rochester Hills. My husband teaches radio and TV at Cousino, and my son, Kest, will be in 4th grade this year. Kest plays travel soccer for the Michigan Lightning Stars travel team, so most of my weekends are spent at soccer games or watching Premier League and Champions League soccer games.
When I am not at Kest's practices or games. I love to get outside and get moving. I spend my free time walking my dog Ocho in the woods and playing soccer in the yard with Kest.
Education:
I am a proud graduate of the Warren Consolidated School system. I attended Pearl Lean Elementary School, Beer Middle School and Warren Mott High School. I received my Bachelor's degree form Wayne State University and my master's degree from the University of Michigan - Dearborn.
Experience:
I began my "teaching" experience in 1993 coaching cheerleading at Cousino High School. I really enjoyed motivating kids and helping them achieve their goals. My love for coaching helped me choose a career in education. I completed my student teaching at Cousino and started teaching there in 1997. I spent most of my teaching career at Cousino, but in 2018 I was transferred to SHHS and I LOVE it! I am excited to continue my teaching career as a Stallion.
Many of my teaching roles have centered around a commitment to create positive student learning experiences. I co-taught Leadership at Cousino from 1998-2002 and was Student Activities Director from 2005-2015. As Student Activities Director I guided students as they organized canned food drives, pep rallies and dances, but more importantly, my leadership classes also facilitated School-Wide Team Building, Challenge Day and other activities that focused on bringing students together to communicate, understand, and respect each other.
My math teaching experience includes Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Investigative Statistics, Integrated Algebra & Geometry, Essential Math, and 9th Grade English. I also have extensive experience teaching Algebra support classes such as EL Algebra, Algebra LAB and Algebra Block.
Awards and Distinctions:
I was nominated by staff and students for the Warren Consolidated Teacher of the Year Award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. I won WCS Teacher of the Year at the high school level in 2014.
